Cellular Connectivity that never lets you down

When the connection drops, so does the sale. A card terminal that can’t reach the payment network on a busy Saturday costs more than any data plan.

Our SIMs are non-steered, so each device attaches to the strongest available signal from AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile and moves again if conditions change. For a fixed store that means outage protection. For a food truck or market stall, the connection follows you.

Use cases

Where it fits: POS, payments, vending and pop-ups

Retail depends on more connected devices than ever. POS terminals, digital signage, vending machines, smart shelves and asset trackers all need a live connection to do their job. Card terminals need a stable link to process transactions without delay, signage updates pricing and promotions in real time, and vending machines, smart lockers and kiosks report stock levels remotely. For pop-ups, concessions and food trucks, cellular is usually the only practical primary connection.

Why Retailers Choose Titus Telecom

1. Keep Taking Payments

Paired with a cellular router, the SIM takes over automatically when the store broadband drops, so card payments keep processing.

2. One Plan Across Every Store

Running stores across two carriers means two contracts, two portals and two invoices. One multi-network SIM collapses that into a single agreement with a shared data pool.

3. Manage Every SIM From One Place

The Titus IoT portal shows usage across every location and lets you activate or suspend SIMs, set usage alerts and caps, and generate reports.

Keeping card payment data secure

Card payments and stock data only help if they arrive safely. For deployments handling card data, SIMs can be provisioned with a private APN or VPN, so payment traffic stays off the public internet and your terminals aren’t exposed to public scanning.

“Titus Telecom has been a pleasure to do business with. Their customer service is top notch, the shipping was quite fast, and the post sales tech support was great as well. I had a question with a device and that same day someone was on a screen share with me to walk me through the question.”

Danny Shupp, CEO

Traffic Signal Solutions

“Excellent provider to work with. SIMs stay connected, pricing and support are top notch. A rarity these days.”

Shawn Bruce

Utility Services

“Great service and reliable connection! Titus has been quick to provide us with SIMs and to ship them to any location we request in the US. They have been great in helping us get them configured correctly by providing live support or email responses within minutes.”

IoT Connectivity for Retail: connecting your stores, stock and devices

Retail depends on more connected devices than ever. POS terminals, digital signage, vending machines, smart shelves and asset trackers all need a live connection to do their job. When that connection drops, so does the sale.

Why retail depends on cellular IoT connectivity

Retailers rely on IoT connectivity to keep every device online, not just the register. POS and card payment terminals need a stable connection to process transactions without delay. Digital signage and in-store displays use connectivity to update pricing and promotions in real time. Vending machines, smart lockers and kiosks depend on it to process payments and report stock levels remotely. Behind the scenes, asset trackers, smart shelf sensors and environmental monitors give retailers visibility over stock and store conditions without manual checks. Reliable connectivity is what turns these devices from isolated hardware into a connected retail operation.

Key IoT use cases in retail

POS & Payment Terminals: stable connectivity that keeps card and contactless payments processing without failed transactions.

Vending Machines & Smart Lockers: remote monitoring of stock levels, machine health and payments, without a site visit.

Digital Signage & Kiosks: real-time price and promotion updates across every location from one place.

Asset & Inventory Tracking: RFID and BLE trackers plus smart shelf sensors that cut shrinkage and out-of-stocks.

Cold Chain & Environmental Monitoring: temperature sensors in refrigeration and freezer units for food safety compliance.

Footfall & People Counting :  sensors that track store traffic patterns to inform staffing and layout

Why multi-network SIMs matter for retail IoT

A standard SIM belongs to one carrier. If that carrier has a weak cell behind your store, or a regional outage, the device is offline and there is nothing you or the store manager can do about it.

Our SIMs are non-steered. There is no preferred network and no home operator to fall back to first. The SIM tests what it can reach and attaches to the strongest available signal from AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile, then re-tests and moves again if conditions change. For a fixed store that means outage protection. For anything mobile, a food truck, a market stall, a delivery vehicle, it means the connection follows the vehicle instead of ending at the edge of one carrier’s footprint.

The commercial side matters as much as the technical side at scale. Running stores across two carriers means two contracts, two portals, two invoices and two support paths, and it still leaves you exposed wherever neither carrier is strong. One multi-network SIM collapses that into a single agreement with a shared data pool, so a machine in a dead zone for one network stays online on another without you procuring anything extra.

Choosing the right IoT connectivity for your stores

Every retail business is different: a single boutique, a regional chain, or a nationwide vending network all have different connectivity needs.

Cellular (4G/5G, LTE-M, NB-IoT): best for POS, kiosks, vending machines and any mobile or multi-site assets that need reliable, scalable connectivity independent of in-store Wi-Fi.

LPWAN (LoRa, NB-IoT): suited to low-power sensors such as shelf sensors and environmental monitors that only need to send small amounts of data occasionally.

Wi-Fi: fine for devices already on an in-store network, but not a substitute for hardware that needs to stay connected independently of store infrastructure or during an outage.

The right mix depends on how many devices you're connecting, how much data they send, and how much a dropped connection actually costs you in lost sales. Our team can help you work that out and put a resilient, multi-network setup in place.

Retail IoT Connectivity FAQs

What is a multi-network IoT SIM, and how is it different from a regular SIM?

A regular SIM is tied to one carrier. A multi-network SIM isn’t. Ours are non-steered, so the SIM connects to whichever of AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile has the strongest signal at that location, and switches automatically if conditions change.

Can a multi-network SIM keep my POS terminals online if the store broadband fails?

Yes. Paired with a cellular router, the SIM takes over automatically when the fixed line drops, so card payments keep processing. When broadband is restored the router fails back on its own, with no action needed in store.

Can the SIM be the primary connection rather than just a backup?

Yes. For mobile and temporary retail such as food trucks, market stalls, pop-ups and concessions, cellular is usually the only practical primary connection. SIMs can be activated when a site opens and suspended when it closes.

How much data does a retail IoT device use?

It depends on the device. A payment terminal processing card transactions uses very little data. A cloud POS syncing inventory, receipts and reporting uses substantially more, and digital signage pushing images or video more again. We size a pooled plan across your estate rather than guessing per device.

Do I need to replace my vending machines or POS terminals to use a multi-network SIM?

No. Most modern retail hardware accepts a standard-format SIM directly. The national vending operator in our case study moved thousands of machines across without replacing a single machine controller.

Does cellular connectivity affect PCI-DSS scope for card payments?

Cellular connectivity is one part of a wider PCI-DSS picture that also covers your terminals, payment provider and internal processes. For deployments handling card data, SIMs can be provisioned with a private APN so payment traffic does not traverse the public internet. Talk to us about your specific setup.
